Like most people, I have a deep longing to do something big with my life. But recently, an art professor at my university said something that struck me:
"I'm not one to give art the burden of changing the world. If you produce art and it happens to change the world, that's great! But if not, you can still be content because you know you were faithful to the gift."
The results aren't my responsibility.
My life may not impact the world like I imagine, but I will still fulfill my purpose. Cultivating the gift and imitating the Creator, I will have done my part.
Have you ever experienced the innate satisfaction of producing art, even though it may not have "accomplished" anything?
